Robyn, Nursery Fragments

«Robyn, Nursery Fragments» begins with objects from my daughter's nursery after they were no longer in use. I dismantled them and, where necessary, painted the fragments pink. I then gave the pieces to my daughter, who used clay to assemble them into new sculptures. I photographed these constructions in my studio, placing them within settings that refer to my own childhood memories, including a marble surface reminiscent of our former dining table. The series brings together my daughter's intuitive way of making with my own process of selecting, altering, staging and photographing. Rather than preserving childhood as an intact memory, the objects pass through different forms - from familiar things to fragments, sculptures and finally photographs.
