The Colour of Pink

«The Colour of Pink» began during a school residency with Kultur macht Schule. Children brought pink objects, which we sorted together. Almost automatically, the objects were initially assigned to the category «for girls». Through our conversations, this classification began to shift. Pink became detachable, exchangeable and negotiable.

 

We placed the objects on an overhead projector, enlarged and overlapped their shadows, and traced the resulting outlines. The forms resemble objects, maps, territories or imaginary countries. For the new works, these outlines were laser-cut from 1 mm aluminium.

 

Although I am not a painter, I developed my own acrylic paint line in collaboration with Fiocchi Farbenfabrik and became fascinated by paint as a material. After several tests, I decided to apply the selected pink tones directly with my hands. The process creates an immediate physical relationship between colour, body and form. Pink appears here not as a fixed attribution, but as a material and space for negotiation.
